MDEC’s Digital Transformation Acceleration Program aimed at evolving businesses

As technology changes all the time, businesses should be able to adapt accordingly to flourish.

MDEC'S Digital Transformation Acceleration Program (DTAP) in partnership with MIDA was created with the intention of speeding up the growth of businesses through digital transformation. Datuk Yasmin Mahmood, CEO of MDEC talked about how cloud has become the enabler for digital adoption.

"If you try to create your own data center, you just won’t have the kind of resources and the know-how to-do. "

She adds that there are many startups that are somewhat born in the cloud era. Surprisingly, she also says that cloud adoption here, is rather lacking. Cloud service providers say that the nation is actually behind when it comes to cloud adoption.

Not only that, Datuk Yasmin also touched on having minimum viable products known as MVPs' and pivoting as a business progresses due to the ever-evolving nature of technology and innovation. Additionally, she said that the government will give grants and tax incentives as well.

Dato' Azman Mahmud, CEO of MIDA, touches on how SMEs’ are crucial components to digital transformation. He added that the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM), entrepreneur associations as well as the supply chain should be able to embrace the current technology to become future proof.

"You will see a significant evolution and innovation because the people on the floor would have to think about how to automate and how digital technology can be used to enhance productivity to be able to compete in the world market" he said.
