SEA's 1st Unity Centre opens in Malaysia

Following a memorandum with Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), Unity Technologies opened Southeast Asia’s first Unity Centre of Innovation in Malaysia.

Located at MDEC's incubator space LEVEL UP Inc, the centre has already attracted nine development studios who will use Unity's resources and analytics software to help build games for the global market.

The centre's focus is on potential game developers and startup studios in the infancy stage of game development using tools such as the Unity Analytics software.

Dato’ Ng Wan Peng, MDEC Chief Operating Officer, told media: “To be the first country in Southeast Asia to establish a Unity Centre of Innovation marks a significant milestone in our mission to position Malaysia as a regional hub for game production and development by 2025. We are confident that the new Unity Centre of Innovation will propel the growth of our games industry to an important cornerstone of the digital economy in Malaysia.”

This will be a great opportunity for local game developers to grow and the next step for game development in Malaysia and the Southeast Asia region. For more information and updates, you can check out the LEVEL UP official Facebook page or the LEVEL UP website.
